Sidney Scott is closing down his $5 million fintech and deep tech VC fund that he started in 2020 .
The Driving Forces solo general partner announced on LinkedIn this week that he was shutting down his fund.
Scott was backed by limited partners, including entrepreneur Julian Shapiro , neuroscientist Milad Alucozai , Intel Capital’s Aravid Bharadwaj .
Scott said that could then create unrealistic expectations and pressure on startups to perform.
Since cycles happen often in venture capital, he believes investor sentiment could quickly turn negative should market conditions shift.
“This impacts the entire ecosystem, causing funding struggles, slower development, and potential shutdowns,” he said.
