UN opens investigation into allegations its Palestine monitor took funds from pro-Hamas lobby groups - UN Watch

The UN has opened an investigation into allegations that special rapporteur Francesca Albanese improperly took external funds from pro-Hamas groups to pay for her $ 20,000 lobbying trip to Australia and New Zealand .

Albanese recently became the first UN human rights rapporteur in the history of the United Nations to be condemned by France and Germany for antisemitism.

UN Watch today files proceedings to remove Albanese , Terminating Her Mandate .

The Human Rights Council has terminated the mandate of a Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 .

Acknowledges that the title of the mandate held by Francesca Albanese is false and misleading, given that the actual mandate provided in resolution 1993/2 is to investigate only “ Israel ’s violations,” which is the only mandate of the former Commission on Human Rights that has evaded the required Review, Rationalization and Improvement ( RRI ) process.

Strongly condemns Francesca Albanese for repeatedly inciting violence and terrorism, in gross violation of her duties as a United Nations Human Rights Expert.

Decides to terminate the mandate of the Special Rapporteur, effective immediately.

Recognizes the mandate is biased, duplicative, counter-productive, lacks credibility and negates the idea of universal human rights and the rule of law.
