First Minister John Swinney dragged into row over allegations SNP used taxpayer-funded stamps for the General Election campaign.
Swinneys office manager involved in discussions’ about use of stationery allegedly paid for by the public purse.
In one WhatsApp message sent to an SNP group chat, Mr Swiney ’s assistant wrote: The stamp fairy is very useful when it comes to campaigns! The SNP is under investigation by the Scottish parliamentary watchdog amid allegations postage stamps were bought using MSPs’ expenses.
A spokesman for the SNP Holyrood Group said: "The Parliamentary rules are crystal clear that materials, including stamps, can only be used for Parliamentary purposes such as representing constituents and campaigning on their behalf. "These exchanges, whilst obviously light-hearted, are being investigated as is appropriate and we would expect the offices of MSPs of all parties to cooperate with the Parliamentary Corporate Body."
