Barack Obama took executive action to expand rights for an entire generation of undocumented immigrants 12 years ago .
The move was Daca Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which offered hundreds of thousands of young immigrants protection from deportation and permission to work legally.
Ruben Navarrette : Daca was the right thing to do and it helped him immensely at the polls.
