Researchers have looked at the polarization of polarized light emitted from non-repeating FRBs.
This is the first analysis of the other 97 percent of FRBs, using data from Canada 's CHIME instrument.
FRBs involve a sudden blast of radio-frequency radiation that lasts just a few microseconds.
The researchers concluded that this particular sample is either a separate population or more evolved FRBs that originated in less extreme environments.
