Sheri Tanaka, who is being investigated in connection with alleged murder plot, will remain free on bail with no restrictions

Sheri Tanaka , a former attorney for the local engineering firm Mitsunaga & Associates , is awaiting trial on charges that she conspired to bribe a former Honolulu prosecutor.

In a hearing on Friday morning , U.S. Probation Officer Erin Patrick indicated that Tanaka is being investigated for suspected involvement in a conspiracy to commit murder.

A search warrant was executed at Tanaka ’s home last month , Patrick said.

Sheri Tanaka is scheduled to appear in court again on Monday with her co-defendants to address pretrial motions.

She is accused of funneling nearly $50,000 in campaign contributions to her boss to influence him to prosecute a former Mitsunaga & Associates employee.

All defendants have pleaded not guilty.
