150 tax office staff investigated over $2 billion social media fraud

Up to 150 ATO staff have been investigated over a $2 billion social media scam.

The alleged false claims ranged between between $38,900 and $2.4 million .

It's estimated more than 57,000 people tried to claim a false GST refund.

More than $120 million of financial penalties have been issued to people found to have taken part in the scheme.
