Gov. Jim Pillen opts Nebraska into summer food aid program after previous rejection

Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer Program for Children will bring in about $18 million in food aid.

Gov. Jim Pillen previously rejected the program, calling it a pandemic-era program that was no longer needed.

He said he preferred an older program in which children had to come to a community site to get food.

Pillen: "In the end, we have come up with a program to make things better for Nebraska kids".
