The mind's eye of a neural network system

A tool developed at Purdue University shows neural networks mislabeling images as cassette players.

The tool is called Reeb graph, a tool taken from the field of topological data analysis.

It shows the relationship that the computer sees among all the images in an entire database.

In testing their approach, the tool caught neural networks mistaking the identity of Converse in databases.
