London police force says it will take years to remove officers accused of corruption, misconduct

More than 1,000 officers are suspended or on restricted duties in London 's Metropolitan Police Service .

Around 100 officers have been dismissed for gross misconduct over the past 12 months .

The force is under pressure to fire officers accused of misconduct and change its male-dominated culture.

An independent review found that the department had failed to properly vet and train officers.
