162 women were asked to judge photographs of six men in a speed-dating style experiment.

Each man was said to have provided a statement as an icebreaker, which was a funny joke, an unfunny joke or a bland statement about their favorite color or pizza.

Funny men were more likely to get a woman’s phone number than those who made no attempt at humor, the study found.
