NASA said it wanted to dispel the 'negative perception' surrounding UFOs.

Called it 'unidentified anomalous phenomena' - 'one of our planet's greatest mysteries' 16 experts in scientific fields from physics to astrobiology have compiled a report into UAPs.

The report said there is 'no reason' to conclude existing UAP reports have extraterrestrial source.

But it said if it is plausible that there are extra-terrestrial life forms in the galaxy, it is also plausible that 'potential unknown alien technology' is operating in the Earth 's atmosphere.

NASA will make a 'concerted effort' to scientifically study the phenomenon.

Conspiracy theorists have claimed that the 'Wow! signal' was a message from intelligent extraterrestrials.

The star, otherwise known as KIC 8462852 , is located 1,400 light years away.

It dims at a much faster rate than other stars, which some experts have suggested is a sign of aliens harnessing the energy of a star.
