B.C. Premier David Eby says the murder of Bailey McCourt in Kelowna provides a “tragic, timely reminder” of why the government is pushing for tougher measures to curb intimate partner violence.
McCourt, a 32-year-old mother of two , was beaten to death with a hammer last Friday afternoon .
The accused is James Plover , her estranged husband, who was convicted in court on four counts of assault and uttering threats.
At a news conference last month , Farnworth ’s successor as solicitor-general, Garry Begg , was asked if he had any comment for the Dunn family.
“It sounds like he doesn’t even know who we are,” said the Dunn 's father Aron Dunn , who has been denied justice in the year since her death.
The brush-off drew a withering response from Sturko , who wrote on social media: “Shame on you.”.
