Michael Leighton is the new head coach of the Detroit Red Wings .

The American Hockey League hall-of-famer spent nearly two decades in pro hockey with stops in 19 different cities.

Leighton played in more than 500 AHL games with 12 teams and his 50 career shutouts broke Johnny Bower’s all-time record in the league.

He helped the Windsor Spitfires to back-to-back Western Conference titles in 2021-223 .

Gibson and Talbot each boast 12 years of NHL experience.

Leighton isn’t looking to do more refining of players that have already been established.

“They’ve been around, they know the game and they've had their share of goalie coaches,” Leighton said.
