Firefighters association flags concern over apparatus shortage

Calgary Firefighters’ Association is sounding the alarm about the lack of fire apparatus at one of its stations.

Station 31 is located at 11955 Country Village Link N.E. and serves several suburban northwest or north-central communities.

The station’s crews had a “ bush buggy” at their disposal, suitable for wildland firefighting operations.

The tower truck for Station 31 experienced “unexpected mechanical issues” that required it to temporarily be removed from service.

The truck has been returned to the station “with no impacts” to public safety.

“We’ve had really good firefighting service for the types of incidents we have had,” she said.
