New study finds link between sexism and denial of male victimhood in relationships

76% Informative
A new study published in Psychology of Men & Masculinities found that people are more likely to believe myths that minimize or dismiss male victims of domestic violence when they also endorse sexist beliefs about men.
The study recruited 514 participants through Amazon ’s Mechanical Turk.
Participants were asked to complete a battery of questionnaires, including the new IPVMM scale.
Cross-sectional design of the study means the researchers could not assess how these attitudes develop or change over time.
Future research should continue exploring the IPVMM scale’s reliability in more diverse and representative populations.
It would also be valuable to examine how different professional groups respond to male victimization.
