Scotiabank analysts say it’s possible the Canadian dollar could rise to 78 cents U.S. against the greenback by the end of this year instead of 2026 .

The Canadian dollar has clocked a strong run over the last six months and is up 6.2 per cent against the U.K. dollar.

The loonie rose 0.5 per cent to an intraday high of 73.76 cents on Thursday .

The greenback has fallen nearly 11 per cent in its worst performance over six straight months since the 1970s .
